clay lindol jones

clay is the founder and director of sevenminusseven. he believes that anyone has the potential to create art, and that almost anything can become art.

his vision has created a unique island resource in the alternative art alliance, an independent art cooperative. founded in february 2008, the alliance is a non-profit organization, a working studio and gallery space which is operated by member artists. clay’s hope is that it will enrich the community through art education and events, with a special focus on encouraging underserved youth to explore the arts.

when not serving the community through alternative art, clay can be found taking care of trees as an arborist for heritage tree care.

this isn’t overwhelming, we’re not out to change the world. we just want to create a haven for serious artists to get away from mainstream art, to make art that’s a state of mind, one which involves the whole planet.

joseph hewes

fresh from college, joseph became introduced to the visceral experience of exhibited artwork as he worked as an arts editor for a weekly newspaper in newport, rhode island. years later, this appreciation for the sublime served him well as he studied watch making among the finest at audemars piguet, switzerland. through the development of a creative consciousness, he welcomes every opportunity to explore the depths and power inherent in the mind’s capacity to create.

joseph’s art curation knowledge, experience and initiatives are indispensable in integrating the alternative art alliance’s efforts.
